What is the elective affinity that unites the “frog“ and the “synth” in “frog synth”? Is it that synthesized sounds, like frog vocalizations, can be simultaneously beautiful and grotesque, cheerful and melancholic, human-like and alien? Or perhaps that frogs and synths both inhabit two worlds: water and land, digital and analog?

Whatever the glue, frog synth was bonded by destiny.

While we don’t know when the genre term was coined, or by whom, frog synth co-evolved from the caves and swamps of dungeon synth and the ponds and woodlands of comfy synth. For us, frog synth is an inclusive label, referring to synthesizer-based music, ranging from sparkly new age atmospheres to dark dungeon melodies, with frog or amphibian themes.

The Frog Synth Coven seeks new brothers and sisters in arms, to restore every frog habitat through the power of croaks and keys.
